Weight Distribution Hitch Recommendation for a 7,500 lb GVWR Trailer

Question:

My son just received his 7500 lb GVWR travel trailer, and the dealer has recommended a Fastway e2 trunnion bar system. Are these reliable? Would it be a good choice for that TT? How difficult are they to set up? I had a Reese Strait-Line years ago and it was a bear to adjust.

The Fastway e2 Weight Distribution # FA92-00-1000 is a decent recommendation and they are reliable - I just would say they are more of that entry-level, economy style weight distribution system.

The Reese Strait-Line # RP66084 that would be the right size for a 7,500 lb GVWR trailer is definitely more of a premium option as it has arguably the best sway control, but you are correct that it is a bit more tricky to set up just because there are more parts than normal.

For a great, middle-of-the-road weight distribution system I recommend checking out the Blue Ox TrackPro # BLU55FR. This has a tongue weight range of 800 lbs - 1,000 lbs, comes with a 2-5/16" hitch ball is made right here in the USA, and has a similar installation process to the e2 you're looking at.

Attached is a review video for you to check out.
