The only way to use the RoadMaster BrakeAway Kit for BrakeMaster Systems # RM-8600 on your 1997 Ford Ranger, is to install the Roadmaster BrakeMaster Braking System with BrakeAway for RVs with Hydraulic Brakes # RM-9060.
The Breakaway kit comes standard with the Roadmaster BrakeMaster System w BrakeAway for RVs w Air or Air Over Hydraulic Brakes # RM-9160 & # RM-9060.
If you're still interested, either of these systems: # RM-9160 & # RM-9060, will work great with your 1997 Ford Ranger, with the use of the RoadMaster BrakeMaster Custom Seat Adapter # RM-88151.
If you 're interested in a complete flat towing setup, you're also going to need:
-A base plate kit like # BX2117,
-A set of tow bars like # e47ZR,
&
-A wiring kit like # RM-152-98146-7.
