The best brake controller for your 2016 Chevrolet Tahoe is going to be a proportional brake controller. These activate your brakes in proportion to your vehicle's braking action so the brakes will activate immediately. I highly recommend the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller # RED24FR.
The main unit of this brake control mounts in an out of sight location, leaving only the knob exposed in the cab of your vehicle. The knob controls the braking power and also acts as the manual override. This brake controller uses a triple axis accelerometer to measure deceleration and also has active calibration technology which monitors your direction of travel to adjust the brake response.
If you have the tow package with the factory tow port you can use the # 331-TPH-010 wiring harness for installation. If not, you will need the # RED69FR instead.
