Troubleshooting S.H Error Code on Tekonsha Prodigy P2 Brake Controller
Question:
Hi, I have just fitted new 10inch electric brakes to my trailer . when I tried my connection to my vehicle the prodigy P2 shows a 5H error. Reading to causes , I diagnosed all the brake magnets that showed they were in good new condition, I even went to the lengths of rewiring the brakes wire harnessing that was new also. The error code is still coming up, I then checked the wiring on the vehicle and it was all ok, But still the error. Any suggestion to remedy for a fix please?

The S.H code on your Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885 indicates that the brake controller is detecting a short on the brake output circuit when you are not braking. Since you checked/replaced wiring on your trailer it is probably on the vehicle side. Start by checking the 7-Way on your vehicle for any signs of corrosion or debris. If that looks good, then I would double check the wire that goes from the 7-Way to your P2.
You are looking for any location where the wire is bent, exposed, corroded, or damaged. You can replace it using # 10-1-1 and 10 Gauge Butt Connectors # DW05745-5. It wouldn't hurt to go ahead and just completely replace the brake controller output wire which would remove the possibility of overlooking damage to the wire.
I have attached a helpful article on troubleshooting brake controllers for your reference.
