Solution for Replacement Seal for 171255UC Oil Seal

Im trying to find a lip seal for a boat trailer axel. The part number on the seal is 171255UC. And I cant find anything to replace it with. It runs in an oil bath on the axel if that makes a difference. Thanks

The 171255UC seal has an inner diameter of 1.719" and an outer diameter of 2.565". I was unable to find an oil seal that matches these measurements, but we do have the Grease Seal - Double Lip - ID 1.719" / OD 2.565" - for 3,500-lb Axles # 58846. You would not want to use this with an oil bath, but if you can't find an oil seal that matches your only option may be to convert to grease.

If you decide to go that route you can remove the oil from the hub and then pack your bearings with grease like the # L11390. You will also want to add a grease cap or perhaps a bearing buddy. To find the correct part you will need to measure your hub bore diameter. For example, if you found that you had a hub bore diameter of 1.98" then you could use the # BB1980A-SS.
