Hard Wiring Universal Installation Kit ETBC7 To 1994 Ford Taurus Wagon
Question:
I have a 94 ford Taurus wagon, I have no trailer wire hooked up yet. If I use the etbc7 can I cut the plug for the four way off and hook directly to the cars turn signals/brake and running lights?

Although it would be easier to install a 4-way harness like the Curt Custom Fit Vehicle Wiring,Wiring for the Ford Taurus, part # C58044, you can cut the 4-way harness off of the Universal Installation Kit, part # ETBC7 and hardwire the 7-way to your Ford Taurus car wiring if you choose. You will need to identify all of the wires on the vehicle by function to make certain you are hooking them to the correct wires on the 7-way harness of the ETBC7. The ETBC7 does come with a circuit tester. When installing the harness you will probably need more wire. I would recommend Bonded 4 Wire, part # 16-4B-1. This is sold by the foot, and is 16 gauge wire.
I have linked you to some FAQ articles that explain wiring for both the vehicle and the trailer.
