Replacement Hub for Restoring Older Trailer

Question:

Hello, I’m restoring an older trailer and I’m trying to replace the hubs. I pulled the old ones off and found the id numbers on the bearings. I found hubs on your website that list those bearings as the inner and outer. Am I safe to assume the hubs on your site will fit or is there another measurement I need? For a 3500 lbs axle…

Yes, it is probably safe to assume that a hub using the same bearings will fit the spindle on your trailer. I'm not sure what "older" is so you may also want to measure the spindle to find the inner diameter of the grease seal. Or if there is a part number on the old one that could be used to identify it. The other thing you want to do is match the bolt pattern.

If you were looking at using the CE Smith Trailer Idler Hub Assembly for 3,500-lb Axles - 6 on 5-1/2 - Pre-Greased # CE13611 this uses a # 58846 grease seal. The inner diameter of this seal is 1.719". More than likely this is what you have since it is the most common seal for a 3,500 lb axle.
