Compatibility Of The Thule Hullavator With A Yakima Whispbar HD Crossbar Roof Rack
Question:
I have a 2010 Subaru Forester with a Yakima Wispbar HD crossbar mounted to factory rails its a Tinch style crossbar. Assuming the crossbar is of sufficient length for the Hullavator to clear the side of my vehicle when loading, what type of mount or adapter should be used to attach the Hullavator to the crossbar? see images attached Thanks

Expert Reply:
The Thule Hullavator Pro Kayak Carrier and Lift Assist with Tie-Downs # TH898 connects to crossbars using a small t-slot bracket and bolt. The bracket is 3/4" x 3/4", so the t-slot in your Yakima Whispbar crossbars would need to be large enough to accommodate this.
The crossbars will need to be spaced at least 24" apart and overhang the feet by 4"- 8" for the Hullavator to have enough clearance to slide down when loading or unloading your kayak.
