Troubleshooting a Prodigy P3 Brake Controller Install for a No Connection Message
Question:
I have a Prodigy P3 brake controller that doesnt seem to be recognizing the trailer. I have tested the truck side and everything seems to be fine. I used my multimeter to test the black and white connections on the bottom of the 7 pin connector and there is continuity between black and white terminals when the plug is unplugged. Not sure where to go from here. Any ideas? Truck is a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado 2500HD

There are 3 things that could explain the problem you are experiencing.
The first is that there is an open circuit on your brake output circuit of your trailer. You would want to check the wiring from the trailer connector all the way back to the brake assemblies looking for cuts in the wire or anything else that could cause a short.
The connector on the trailer might be corroded or shorting out. Thoroughly inspect the connector for corrosion or shorts and fix/clean as necessary.
There could also be a problem with the brake magnets in your brake assemblies. This is the least likely explanation but I attached an FAQ on troubleshooting brake magnets for you to check out also.
I also attached an FAQ article on troubleshooting brake controller installs that you should find informative.
