Moving My Thule TracRac From My Old Truck To A New Truck, Is Malone SaddleUp Compatible W/ TracRac

Question:

Current vehicle is Tacoma, 2016. 5’ bed with gear rails. I see from the description that this fits. My question is, if I get a different truck within the year, can I simply purchase new clamps to make this work? Also, looking at the channel mount Malone saddle up pro. Is it compatible with this rack? Or, do you recommend a different saddle setup?

Yes, the Thule TracRac TracONE Ladder Rack for Toyota Tacoma - Fixed Mount - 800 lbs - Matte Black, part # TH27000XTB-XK4B, is compatible with your 2016 Toyota Tacoma with the deck rail system and the short bed. Unfortunately, while ladder racks all resemble each other, it is not as simple as purchasing new clamps, if you get a different vehicle. Ladder racks come in varying heights and widths. Your next truck can have a taller cab, relative to the rails of your truck bed. Then the compatible ladder rack would be taller than your existing ladder rack. While I cannot guarantee your ladder rack will be compatible with your next truck, I do recommend you consider accessory fit during vehicle shopping. This can eliminate some headaches on the back end.

The Malone SaddleUp Pro Kayak Carrier with Tie-Downs for Truck Racks - Saddle Style - Channel Mount, part # MPG1001, will fit the the t-channels of your Thule TracRac.

I have included a video installation of this ladder rack on a 2019 Toyota Tacoma and a video review of the Malone SaddleUp Pro below.
