Trailer Hitch Recommendation For A 2022 Toyota RAV4
Question:
I have seen comments on web-sites like U-haul that some hitches like the Curt Class III C13416 may interfere with the Hands Free Lift Gate Sensors and Function. Can you find out if that is so. If yes, Is there some other model that wont interfere with that sensor? So far, I only intend to use the hitch to tow 1 - 3 bikes max, but may want to pull cargo trailer too. So I think a class III would be best - as long as it doesnt mess up that sensor.

When it comes to installing a trailer hitch on your 2022 Toyota RAV4 The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class III - 2 inch # C13416 will work. Per the Curt installing this hitch on your vehicle may interfere with the Hands-free Liftgate sensors and functionality may be very limited or possibly lost. Per the manufacturers The center portion where the hitch mounts is blocked. You will have to kick your foot to either side to retain function. The trailer hitch has a concealed cross tube which will give it a sleeker hidden look after installed.
The hitch has a gloss black powder coat finish that helps reduce rust resistance. It has a gross towing weight up to 4,000 pounds and has a tongue weight up to 400 pounds. it has a simple bolt-on installation. I would check your vehicle's manual to find out the proper towing capacity for your vehicle. When looking into it on my side it shows it can tow up to 3,500 pounds.
When it comes to the bike rack The Thule Hitching Post Pro - Folding Tilting 4 Bike Rack w Anti-Sway - 1-1/4 inch and 2 inch Hitches # TH934XTR is a high quality bike rack. You can carry up to 4 bikes and each bike can weigh up to 35 pounds. It has a tilting feature that allows easy access to your vehicle's rear cargo area.
I attached an installation video link below.
