Recommended Brake Assemblies and Hub/Drums for 3500 lb Axle on Big Tex Trailer
Question:
I believe I have everything I need in the cart, but I just wanted to double check with you…..can you give me a list of part numbers that I need for installing the trailer brakes on my 2021 Big Tex 14’ trailer? I need the hubs, brakes, 4 flat to 7 circle kit, and hardware. I believe this is all I need. Thank you!

Unfortunately, I don't have the ability to see what you have in your cart, nor is there any database that would tell me which specific parts were used on your 2021 Big Tex 14 foot trailer, but we can still figure out what you need.
The # AKEBRK-35-SA self adjusting brake assemblies you'd looked at are for a 3500 lb axle. You can confirm that you have a 3500 lb axle by checking several things:
• Wheel Bolt Pattern- 3500 lb axles typically have a 5 on 4-1/2 inch wheel bolt pattern. See linked article.
• Axle Beam Diameter- 3500 lb axles have beams that are usually 2-3/8 inches in diameter
• Inner and Outer Wheel Bearing Reference Number- a 3500 lb axle uses a L68149 inner and an L44649 outer
wheel bearing. The cages that carry the roller bearings will have a reference number stamped/etched into their
side.
If you indeed have a 3500 lb axle, in addition to the # AKEBRK-35-SA brake assemblies you'd looked at, you'll also need the # BRKH10B mounting hardware kit (enough for one axle). The mud and crud plugs to cover the adjuster holes are included. For 3500 lb hub/drums, go with part # AKHD-545-35-EZ-K (sold individually).
To convert your 4 pole trailer connector to a 7-way, use our # HS381-9000 junction box/7-way trailer connector. The junction box provides a secure spot to make all your wiring connections so they're protected from the elements. You'll also need a length of # 10-1-1 brake wire to connect the brake assemblies to the junction box.
If you have an axle other than a 3500 lb capacity, let me know and I'd be happy to make some suggestions.
