Troubleshooting Trailer Tires that Are not Inflated to Their Max PSI Rating
Question:
I have a 25 foot gooseneck trailer . It currently has gladiator 235 80 16 on it with a load e 3520 wieght per tire the trailer has 8 tires under it and 2- 10000 lb axles. all the sudden im blowing out tires going down the road at various speeds my tires are radials. even with 60 of the tread still on them there blowing . after reading some of your comments i realise that i should keep them at the 80psi max but is there a good solid tire that is better for my application . the local tire guys suggest going with a lt tire even though they have a lower weight rating some how they say the construction is better .. you tell me please ........ i would estimate the trailer loaded to the max at 26000lbs but normally load =tralier 24k lbs

I would recommend you stick with your current size if that is why your trailer manufacturer recommends and just keep the tires inflated to their max psi, keep your speeds below 65 miles per hour and avoid overloading your trailer you should be fine.
However, I am concerned because you said you have (2) 10k axles yet you are overloading them when you are hauling between 24k and 26k. I would recommend you not exceed the capacity of the lowest rated component in your setup. In this case you are overloading your axles since you only have 20k in axle capacity.
I would not recommend going with an LT tire. I would stick with an ST specialty trailer tire. They are constructed better for trailer use with thicker sidewalls for carrying loads. LT tires are designed for trucks and should not be used on trailers.
For replacement tires that are the same size as what you have with the same capacity check out the Karrier ST235/80R16 Radial Trailer Tire # AM10248. I attached a review video for this product for you to check out as well. The max PSI for this tire is 90 psi. You will want to keep the tires inflated to that.
I attached an FAQ article on trailer tires for you to check out also.
