Flat Tow Set-Up For 2015 Fiat 500
Question:
I have a 2015 Fiat 500 Abarth manual transmission. In my talk with the previous owner, they installed a Blue Ox towing system in the car. After sell and prior to my purchase, the only thing left on the vehicle is the face plate and the complete wiring. I am looking for assistance in completing the tow package braking, tow bar 7/4 cable. I would appreciate any assistance. This is all greek to me. TIA

We can help you with this, I have attached a couple short help articles that provide an explanation of the needed parts and their function that you will hopefully find of value. You are looking at five primary components for a safe flat towing setup. These are (1) Base Plates that mount to the front of your 2015 Fiat 500 and provide the mounting point between the car and the motorhome for the (2) Tow Bar. You will also need (3) Safety Cables in case a failure of the Tow Bar occurs, this is required by law. The indicator lights between the RV and the towed vehicle will need to be connected with (4) an Electrical Wiring solution. And (5) a Supplemental Braking set-up is needed to help stop the towed vehicle. This too is required by law.
- Base Plate, Blue Ox Base Plate Kit, # BX2805 (Abarth - Manual transmission)
- Tow Bar, Blue Ox Avail Non-Binding Tow Bar, # BX7420 (includes the needed safety cables)
- Supplemental Braking, Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO, # SM99251 and the Roadmaster Stop Light Switch Kit - Fiat
Item # RM-751455. I like this system because it is a one time setup and everything will be hidden once installed.
And if I understand correctly, you already have the needed wiring solution in place, but otherwise I would suggest the Curt Towed-Vehicle RV Harness, # C58911. Let us know if you need the tow-bar extension cord. We have several options such as the Hopkins Endurance Flex-Coil for example, # HM47053.
