Trailer Right Turn Signal Does Not Work Using Wiring Harness on a 2008 Chrysler Town and Country

Question:

I purchased this product around October 2011. The right turn signal quit working yesterday. The signal works on the vehicle but not on the trailer. I have checked the trailer wiring. I have checked the wiring on the car from the green wire to the electronic box and I have power there. But on the other end where the four wire flat comes out there is no power to the green wire. Is this an indication that the box has gone bad ? If so is there any warranty on this item ? Should I check other wiring trailer ?

You have tested the converter on trailer wiring harness # 118552 correctly. Since there is the correct signal going into the converter but not coming out that indicates that the converter is bad and the harness will need to be replaced. The Tow Ready wiring harnesses have a 1 year limited warranty so based on the date of purchase you would be outside of that window.

The modern day wiring harnesses are very sensitive because the vehicle wiring on newer vehicles is sensitive. Because of this the wiring has to be checked from time to time because a short could damage the wiring and make the converter no longer work. Essentially if that happens the box has done its job protecting the vehicle wiring.

You will want to check the wiring on the trailer or other accessories that you plug into the 4-Way to determine if a short on one of them caused the issue. Make sure all the connectors are clean and free of corrosion. Check the grounds and make sure they are all attached to clean and corrosion free bare metal surfaces.

After you have inspected all the trailer wiring and made any repairs then you would install a new trailer wiring harness. I have included a link to all the wiring harnesses we offer for a 2008 Chrysler T and C.
