Best Sliding Hitch for a Ford F-350 w/ Reese Elite Puck System or OEM Puck System

Question:

I have an 05 ford f350 short bed with a reese elite puck system. what fifth wheel slider will work for me? I have a Rockwood 29ft 9k gross.

Since your 2005 Ford F-350 Short Bed has a Reese Elite Puck System your truck is compatible with all of the 5th Wheel Hitches that work with the Ford OEM prep package. The best 5th wheel hitch for your truck is going to be the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w Slider for Ford Towing Prep Package item # BWRVK3370 you were looking at. The Companion will attach to the pucks in your Reese Elite system and allow for an easy installation and removal when you are not towing. The 1" thick dual jaws provide 360-degree jaw-to-king-pin contact. This ensures there is less rattle and more security than slide-bar jaws. The slider that is built into the base of the Companion allows for 12" of fore and aft travel to give you the clearance you need. I have linked an installation video.

The B&W Companion weighs over 250 lbs. If that's not something you're interested in moving by yourself and don't want to have to rely on someone to help you then I recommend purchasing the B&W 5th Wheel Lifting Device for Companion and Patriot Hitches item # BWRVXA3130.
