Weight Distribution Hitch for a 2020 Ram 1500 Eco Diesel

Question:

I have a 2020 ram 1500 ecodiesel. I’ll never tow more than 8000lbs probably a few times a year. With that being said, I’m looking for guidance on what would best help with trailering. I was looking at airbags and a wd hitch but then saw that maybe it’s bad to mix the two? I also was looking at a wd hitch and sumo springs. What would your suggestion be and what hitch would you recommend? Thank you!

Since your main use is towing sporadically with your 2020 Ram 1500 Eco Diesel I recommend only using a weight distribution system so you don't affect your trucks daily driving. You will want to use the Blue Ox TrackPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control - 7-Hole Shank item # BLU27FR. This system has a tongue weight range of 1,000 lbs - 1,300 lbs. You will want to check the height of your hitch compared to your trailer's coupler. You will want to be as level as possible when using a weight distribution system. This shank will give you a 2" drop. If you need a longer shank you should go with the Blue Ox TrackPro Weight Distribution w/ Sway Control - 9-Hole Shank item # BLU59FR. This system is identical but has a longer shank that will give you 4-1/2 inches of drop. I have linked an article about hitch and coupler height.

If you end up needing a longer shank with a deeper drop you will want the Blue Ox Track Pro Weight Distribution Shank for 2" Hitches - 11 Hole Adjustment item # BLU86FR. This shank will provide you with 7" of drop.

These systems come with 2-5/16" balls. For a 2" hitch ball you will want the Curt Item # 40038.
