Will Shorter Shackle Straps Provide More Clearance Between Tire and Underneath of Frame

Will a shorter shackle strap give me more space between the top of the tire and the frame? Thank you

There are a few ways to gain additional clearance between your tire and fender but using shorter shackle straps is not one of them. The best way to get additional clearance would be to either raise up your fenders, if possible or go with taller spring hangers. You could also use a smaller diameter wheel and tire combo.
Depending on what diameter of axle you have you could use The Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit # K71-384-00 if you have a 2-3/8 inch diameter axle or The Dexter Trailer Springs Over-Under Conversion Kit # K71-385-00 if you have a 3 inch diameter axle. Both kits allows moving leaf trailer springs to the top of your axle. It only works with double-eye springs.
