Solution To Raise 5th Wheel Trailer For Level Towing On A 2017 Ford F-350 Super Duty
Question:
Hello, Is there any way to raise the 2005 Keystone Montana up to be level when towing? At level the overhang is the same height as my bed sides. I raised it up but ti may be too high to tow properly? Im new to this so I havent gone anywhere yet and am concerned for turning on uneven roads. Also Ideal clearance is 6inch correct, so I may have to raise fifth wheel hitch a bit higher.

For your 2005 Keystone Montana, you have a couple of options to get your trailer level for towing.
Apart from adjusting the height on the hitch itself, you can also adjust the height on the pin box itself. You can make your height adjustment, by utilizing the different mounting holes, to pivot your nose up or down.
Finally, you can use an over-under conversion kit like # K71-384-00 for a 2-3/8" axle, or # K71-385-00 for a 3" axle. This will move your axle from above the leaf springs to below the leaf springs, raising your trailer's height to the thickness of the axle plus the spring stack.
The ideal height of your 5th wheel to the bed rails of your truck is 5-6", and you can utilize a combination of all of these methods to achieve the appropriate clearance.
