How Can I Keep The Battery In My 2019 Chevrolet Equinox Charged While It Is Being Flat Towed

Question:

I tow a 2019 Equinox behind my motorhome and cannot keep the battery charged. There is a 6 amp parasitic draw when the car is in towed mode. GM has verified this is normal. Im currently using an RVi charger, but its only rated for 10 amps. RVi confirmed the brake unit pulls around 3 amps. Hence, the charge indicator goes from green to yellow within the first hour of towing. Eventually the battery will go dead. Is there any charger that can provide more amperage to keep ahead of the 9 amp draw? Ive been fighting this issue since the car was new. GM stands their ground and says the car is operating as designed. Can you help?

This is something we have addressed with other customers and we do have a solution. You need to add the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Towed Vehicles, part # RM-156-25, to your setup. This charge line kit will use up to 15 amps of your RV's battery to maintain the charge of your 2019 Chevrolet Equinox while it is being towed. It will connect to the 7-way plug on your vehicle. If your RV does not have a charge line, you will also need the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Motorhomes, part # RM-156-75.

I have included product description links and a video of this system being installed on a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox below.
