Electric fans like # D18214 are not vehicle specific so if you have the space to install the fan you can use it on your 1988 Ford Ranger. This fan can be mounted on either side of the radiator to either push air through it or pull air through it. If you are using the fan to supplement the factory fan then just make sure that the two fans are not working against each other. For example if the factory fan pulls air through the radiator then the supplemental fan needs to be on the other side of the radiator pushing air through.
This particular fan measures 14-1/2 inches wide, 14-1/2 inches tall, and 2-5/8 inches deep. Check the space you have available to determine fit. You can also wire this fan into a thermostat, # D16735, that will kick the fan on when the temperature reaches 180 degrees or more. I have linked our FAQ article on electric fans for you.
