Can 2020 Hyundai Palisade T-One Wiring be Used to Power Trailer Interior Lights
Question:
Hi guys, I have a 2020 Palisade which, like you guys already know, Has that harness at the back where I connected the Curt adapter to have the 4way plug, from the Curt adapter harness I have a 12v black wire that powers the adapter, the copper core of that wire is approximately 1.8mm, which I believe is like a 14awg, can I use that wire to keep my auxiliary battery charged to run my trailers interior lights, without damaging the system on my Palisade? Or I should run a bigger wire from the vehicle battery and maybe add a breaker? Thank you all, not only you guys sale everything possible for trailers and towing, but I also have learned so much from your videos.

Hello,
I'm happy to hear that we've been able to help out with information!
You are correct that the wiring on the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness # CU94FR for your 2020 Hyundai Palisade is smaller gauge wire (it's technically 16 but that's just 1 size away from 14 so good job!) so to add a power wire for your trailer interior lights I highly recommend installing our Wiring Upgrade Kit # ETBC7 so you have power going straight from your battery (through a breaker) back to power your trailer interior lights. The power will drop the further away from the source it gets so using the larger gauge wire means you'll get the most power possible, plus it means you won't have to worry about overloading the CU94FR wiring.
If your trailer doesn't already have a 7-Way I recommend swapping it overusing the Kit # HS381-9000 which comes with a junction box so you can make your connections easier and keep them organized.
