Recommended Sliding Fifth Wheel Hitch For A 2022 Ram 2500 With OEM Puck System
Question:
I have a Curt 5th wheel hitch for my ford truck. It is not a sliding hitch. I am purchasing a ram 2500 with a truck with the puck system and a bed of 6.4 inches. Do i need a sliding hitch? I believe this bed is a bit shorter than my ford.

Yes, you will want to use a sliding hitch in your new 2022 Ram 2500's short bed to prevent the nose of your fifth wheel from coming into contact with the cab of your truck.
For this there are two types of sliders, automatic and manual. If you want to save a little bit of money and don't mind getting out of the truck and pulling the lever to set the hitch into the maneuvering position to complete a tight turn and then get back out to lock it into the fixed position then I recommend the B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider for Ram Towing Prep Package # BWRVK3670.
This hitch has specially designed legs that allow you to drop it right into the puck system of your Ram for a super easy installation/removal.
If you don't want the hassle of getting out and pulling levers every time you need to make a tight turn then I recommend the Demco Hijacker Autoslide 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider # DM8550034 with the Demco 5th Wheel Rail Adapter for Ram OEM 5th Wheel Towing Prep Package # DM6099. This slides automatically as you drive to give you 14" of additional clearance for tight turns.
The rail adapter is designed to drop right into the puck system in the bed of your Ram for easy installation/removal.
I personally like B&W, and my family uses a standard Companion hitch, but I also like the auto slide feature of the Demco to avoid having to get out of the truck on a busy road to just to make a turn.
