What is the Best Way to Tow My 2007 Honda Civic?

Question:

Looking to flat tow my 2007 Honda Civic. The only thing I have right now is the braking system that I got with the RV. I need the tow bar and back plate and whatever accessories needed in between. I originally wanted to get the Blue Ox system but you don't carry a back plate for my 2007 Honda Civic that is a sure fit anymore.

I have a towing solution for you. From my research on your 2007 Honda Civic, I confirmed with the Honda owner's manual that you should not flat-tow your vehicle. The manual states that a 20007 Civic needs to be towed with the front wheels elevated or with all wheels completely off the ground on a flat-bed truck. With that being said, it is always a good idea to abide by the manufacturers recommendations.

With this information, it is safest to transport your vehicle using a tow dolly. For this route, I recommend the Demco Kar Kaddy X Tow Dolly w/ Disc Brakes - Tilt Bed Frame - 4,800 lbs # DM9713093. The advantage of the Kar Kaddy X is that it comes with hydraulic brakes, so you do not need to worry about the headache of installing a 7-way wiring harness and brake controller. In order to flat-tow with the dolly, you need a 2-inch ball like the # 40038 (1-inch shank) or # A-90 (1-1/4 inch shank). Since the Kar Kaddy X's coupler sits at 18 inches high, you most likely need a rise/drop hitch to make the connection level. I went ahead and attached a product page that shows all of our rise/drop hitches for 2-inch hitches.
