Can Slipper Spring Replace Existing Double Eye Leaf Spring

Question:

I’m refurbishing my boat trailer. I can see that the leaf springs are the open eye type at one end. I was wondering if I can use double eye leaf springs instead of the open eye type if the measurement matches a double eye spring. Is this advisable?

You could replace a double-eye leaf spring with a slipper spring like the # e33SR spring you'd looked at, but it's recommended that you remove the existing rear hanger (assuming it's a single axle trailer) with a rear hanger like # 115706S as your existing rear hanger isn't designed for use with slipper springs.

You'll also want to choose a spring with sufficient capacity to handle the weight of the boat and trailer. You can choose a higher rated spring than your existing one, but be aware that doing so won't increase the weight bearing capabilities of your trailer.
