Can the Curt Assure Trailer Brake Controller Be Mounted Vertically

Curt Assure #C49UR Can the unit be installed vertical as long as it is horizontally level ? Thank you

The Curt Assure Trailer Brake Controller part # C49UR must be mounted in a certain orientation in order for the inertia sensor to work properly. I have attached a photo below with the mounting orientation required which comes directly from the install instructions.
It cannot be mounted vertically as you can see.
