How To Tow Trailer and Haul Kayak On 2017 Ram 2500
Question:
I have a 2017 Ram 2500 which I use to tow a Grand Design Imagine 2400 BH travel trailer. I am looking for a solution to be able to tow the trailer while also transporting a kayak. I am considering something like the Thule Goal Post or Yakima LongArm truck bed extenders to attach the kayak to, but it would require some sort of dual receiver to allow me to attach the extender to the top receiver and the trailer to the bottom receiver. I have looked through the questions for this part and it seems as though it is not intended to tow a trailer. Assuming this is true, can you recommend something else I can use for this purpose?

The Gen-Y Adjustable 2-Ball Mount part # 325-GH-214 will allow you to tow and use hitch mounted accessories at the same time so long as the two are spaced apart accordingly. It's also offset so you shouldn't have clearance issues with the bottom of the receiver. This will work great with a load extender system like the Rhino-Rack T-Load part # RRVA150B, part # RRRLKVAH, part # RTL002, and part # DK043H.
If you don't want to use the Gen-Y Adjustable 2-Ball Mount so can use the Curt Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver part # C31015 and carry the kayak over the hood. This is better for fifth wheel towing but you can use it with travel trailers as well.
