What Hitch do You Recommend for a Kuat Sherpa 2.0 1-1/4" on a 2022 Toyota Prius?

We currently own a KUAT Sherpa 2 bike rack with a 1.25 receiver. We want to put a trailer hitch on a 2022 Prius thinking of trading in our old vehicle for this Prius, but want to make sure there is a hitch that would work with our bike rack or we can buy a different bike rack.

We have good news! On a 2022 Prius, we do have great 1-1/4" hitches for your Kuat Sherpa 2.0 # SH12G, # SH12B, or # SH12P. The great thing about the Sherpa is that it comes with a long shank that measures 7-1/2 inches from the center of the pinhole to the closest part of the rack.

While we have not installed a hitch on a 2022 Toyota Prius, we do have hitches that are confirmed to fit a 2022 model. For this route, I recommend the Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver - Custom Fit - Class I - 1-1/4" # C11473. Not only does the hitch provide you with 200 pounds of maximum tongue capacity and 2,000 pounds of maximum gross towing capacity, this hitch comes with a gloss outer coat over the base powder coat that provides more rust/corrosion resistance than the EcoHitch # EH53VR.

Even though we have not recorded the measurements of where the hitch installs on a 2022 model Prius, we do have those measurements available on a 2019 model On a 2019, the # C11473 pinhole measures only 3 inches from the face of the rear bumper. With a measurement like that, hitch measurements rarely deviate in a considerable length between newer models. With that being said, you should have enough bumper clearance when using your Sherpa 2.0 with the # C11473.
