Parts Needed to Flat Tow 2007 Mini Cooper Hardtop S model
Question:
Im looking to get a tow bar, baseplate and lights for my 2007 Mini Cooper Sport Hard Top. I have had trouble with Blue OX products because it is the Sport. One of your Experts noted that a Blue OX 1307for 2011-13 models would work. Can you confirm this?

We do have a base plate option for you but it is not the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit, # BX1307 as this for later model years than 2007. I recommend the Roadmaster EZ Base Plate Kit, # 521877-1 for a 2007 Hardtop S model.
For a tow bar, I suggest the Roadmaster Falcon 2 Tow Bar, # RM-520. This hitch-mounted tow bar has stainless steel, telescoping arms that automatically lock into place. Its large hookup radius allows you to connect without perfectly lining up your vehicle. Easily folds up to store on your RV.
You will need safety cables, I recommend the Roadmaster 80" Coiled Safety Cables, # RM-653.
For lighting I suggest the bulb and socket kit # RM-155. Installation video is linked below. This kit lets you use your towed vehicle's brake, running and signal lights without tapping into its wiring. It works via independent plugs and sockets mounted inside the tail lights.
For supplemental braking, required by law, I suggest the system preferred by our installers, the SMI Stay-IN-Play DUO proportional system, # SM99251. It will apply the vehicle brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.
