Recommended Trailer Hitch Receiver for 2020 Honda CR-V With Hands Free Lift Gate
Question:
I’m interested in hitch for 2020 Honda CRV. Is there a hitch that will work with the hands free tailgate that doesn’t require repositioning the tailgate sensor?

For your 2020 Honda CR-V I recommend the etrailer Trailer Hitch Receiver # e98848. Unfortunately, the location Honda chose for installation of the hands free tailgate sensor is one that will be blocked no matter what hitch you install. In order to retain the function and have a trailer hitch receiver you will need to get the relocation kit from your local dealer.
The # e98848 is a custom-fit Class III hitch with a 2" receiver. This hitch has a maximum gross trailer weight of 3,500 lbs and a tongue weight of 525 lbs. It has a bolt-on installation and a concealed cross tube to help maintain a factory look. What sets this hitch apart from others is the matte black powder coat finish. This provides more of an OEM appearance and also does a better job of hiding dirt and scratches when compared to a glossy finish.
If you plan on doing some towing, I recommend the T-One Vehicle Wiring Harness with 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector # 118741 for wiring. This plugs into existing wiring on your vehicle, providing you with a 4-way connection to power your trailer's signal lights.
For a ball mount, check out the etrailer Ball Mount Kit # 989900. This kit has two ball mounts, one with a 3/4" rise or 2" drop and the other with a 2-3/4" rise or 4" drop. It also comes with a 1-7/8" and 2" ball, as well as a ball mount bag to store everything in.
I have attached some review and installation videos for your reference.
