What Crossbars do You Recommend to Replace My OEM Crossbars on My 2016 Subaru Crosstrek?

Question:

Hello, I need some assistance on finding the right crossbars. I have a 2016 Subaru Crosstrek with aftermarket OEM style aero crossbars on top. I tried to attach the Yakima Kayak stacker #4024, but the snaparounds did not fit around the crossbars I have. The aero crossbars were too wide/thick. I removed the inner plastic parts of the snaparounds so I can’t use a round bar. What aero or square crossbars would you recommend that would fit with my 2016 Crosstrek and would with the kayak stacker? Thank you.

I'm sorry to hear that your Yakima BigStack Roof Mounted 2 Kayak Carrier System # Y04041 does not fit around your OEM crossbars! Fortunately, Thule has some crossbar systems that are designed to work to replace your OEM bars. For that route, I recommend the following setup for your vehicle:

- Thule WingBar Evo Crossbars - Aluminum - 50" Long # TH711300 (silver) or # TH711320 (black)
- Evo Raised Rail Feet # TH710401
- Thule One-Key Locks # TH450400

The reason why this will definitely work is because the Thule WingBar Evo crossbars have the exact same 3-1/8" wide x 1" tall as Yakima JetStream crossbars. Since the BigStack is designed to work with the dimensions of the JetStream crossbars, they will fit on the WingBar Evos. As far as weight capacity, this roof rack provides you with 220 pounds of maximum weight. As with all roof racks, I recommend confirming with your vehicle's owner's manual to ensure that your roof can handle the weight you wish to transport.
