I have a Patriot BWRVK3200 That was in my old truck I picked up a new truck today that has the 2022 gmc puck system was wondering if I bought the companion base could I use the head off the Patriot 16k

Unfortunately that will not work. You can move Patriot and Companion hitch heads between their respective bases only, you cannot crossover one to the other.
For your 2022 GMC Sierra 3500 with OEM Prep Pkg. I recommend the 25K rated B&W Companion OEM 5th Wheel Hitch for Chevy/GMC Towing Prep Package, # BWRVK3715. # BWRVK3710 is the 20K rated model.
