Is Offset Convert-A-Ball 5th Wheel to Gooseneck Adapter As Strong as Non-Offset Model
Question:
our 2001 5th wheel towed with my 2002 ford f350 long bed, had adequate room between them, we now have a 2014 5th wheel has very little room, will this off set adapter work just as well as a regular adapter, without losing strength of the trailer. Prefer 20K or more, need at least 16K. Trailer is 35foot and weighs 13.5 K ..Thank You

The Convert-A-Ball Cushioned 5th Wheel Trailer to Gooseneck Hitch Adapter you mentioned, part # CAB-C5GX1216 will offer 7-1/2 inches of offset, and will increase the distance between the front of your fifth wheel and the rear of your truck cab when the trailer is in a straight line behind the truck. It will also provide more clearance between the rear bumper and the front of the fifth wheel, under the trailer loft. Keep in mind, the offset adapter is not meant to increase the clearance for turns, but this is rarely an issue with long bed trucks.
The adapter has a 20,000 lb towing/4,000 lb pin weight capacity, and would need to be bolted to the underside of your pin box using the included hardware. The adapters cannot be used in conjunction with a Sidewinder or a air ride pin box.
In the event it offers enough clearance, the Convert-A-Ball adapter will be plenty strong enough for your application.
