Installing an 18K Demco Hijacker 5th Wheel Hitch w/ Slider in 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 3500

Question:

I have a 2022 3500HD Silverado HighCountry and have a 2022 Vanleigh Beacon on order and looking to purchase a 5th wheel hitch. Would I need to purchase any additional items to install the Demco Autoslide 18k in my truck? It has the factory installed 5th wheel and gooseneck system. Also, does it automatically slide back when backing up?

The 18K Demco Hijacker 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Slider, # DM8550034 that linked to is an auto-slide model, so yes, this hitch slides automatically as you drive to give you 14" of additional clearance for tight turns. This will be a great fit for a short bed 2022 Chevrolet Silverado 3500 with the OEM 5th-wheel towing prep package. The base of the Autoslide has a built-in rack-and-pinion gear system that operates automatically. As your truck turns, the pinion in the base also turns. This activates the rack gear, which causes the rotational force of the truck to be converted into the linear sliding action of the hitch.

To install this with your puck system, you will need the Demco 5th Wheel Rail Adapter for Chevy/GMC OEM 5th Wheel Towing Prep Package, # DM6333. This sets into the OEM pucks in your truck bed and then the Hijacker, # DM8550034 mounts to it. No drilling or welding required for this whole setup, simply drop in to place and lock it down.
