To flat tow your 2016 Chevy Colorado it will need to be 4WD and you'll have some steps listed in your owner's manual to complete before towing your Colorado with all four wheels on the ground.

To flat tow you'll need a tow bar, base plate, tow bar wiring kit, braking system, and safety cables. If you haven't purchased these yet then I have the following recommendations for you:

Tow Bar: etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar # e74ZR. This tow bar is specifically designed to fit Roadmaster direct-connect base plates. It features non-binding latches and telescoping, self supporting arms that make connecting and disconnecting your Colorado on any terrain a breeze. It has an adjustable head that tilts up or down 3" and the shank has a built-in 1-1/2" rise or drop to keep tow bar parallel with road while towing without the use of a high/low hitch adapter.

Base Plate: Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-523182-5. These direct-connect attachment points offer a quick and simple hookup or removal. The removable arms provide a clean factory look when not in use.

Tow Bar Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. This diode kit allows you to use your Chevrolet Colorado's tail lights and wiring system while preventing feedback from your RV.

Since you'll need to disconnect the negative battery cable to tow your Colorado I recommend installing the Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect # RM-766 to make it as easy as flipping a switch.

Braking System: Brake Buddy Select 3 Portable Supplemental Braking System # HM39524. This system offers intense, emergency braking or steady, smooth braking in a single portable system. Easily switch between proportional or full braking from the cab of your motorhome using the remote. The included charge line kit will keep your Colorado's battery charged while you tow.

Safety Cables: Since the # e74ZR already has safety cables you won't need to purchase any separately.
