Options for Installing RV Controlled Lights on a 2017 Chevy Malibu Being Dolly Towed
Question:
I have a 2017 Chevrolet Malibu that I will be towing behind an r.v. on a tow dolly. Is there something I need to do to the vehicle so the tail lights work on the vehicle from the r.v. and tow dolly. Thank you

You have a couple options for how to run your RV's tail lights when dolly towing your 2017 Chevrolet Malibu. The simplest option would be to install the Heavy Duty Magnetic Tow Lights - 20' Wiring Harness with 4-Way Flat Trailer Connector item # TL21RK. These lights have a magnetic base that will attach the lights to your trunk and then you will run the wiring harness over the top of your car and plug directly into the 4-way connector on your motorhome. This is the simplest and least invasive way to add signal lights to the rear of your 2017 Chevy Malibu when it is being towed. I have linked an installation video.
Another option, and this is usually reserved for vehicles being flat towed, is to install the Roadmaster Tail Light Wiring Kit with Bulbs item # RM-155. This system works by installing independent plugs and sockets that are mounted inside the tail lights. There will not be any wires drapped over your Malibu or magnets attaching lights to your truck. This kit is utilizes your tail light housing to add new lights that are controlled by your RV. I have linked an installation video.
The decision will come down to personal preference if you don't mind having wires draped over the roof of your car while it is being towed then the Magnetic Lights item # TL21RK are the way to go.
