J-Style Carrier, Bike Rack, And Trailer Hitch That Fits A 2008 Honda CR-V

Question:

Hello! I drive a Honda CRV 2008. It has black bars along the top, I think they are cross bars I am not sure. I want to get a roof rack and J rack, preferably Thule brand. I also dont have a hitch on my car to get a bike rack. If my CRV has no hitch at all, what do I need to purchase to install a hitch and a bike rack?

The Thule Hull-A-Port Kayak Carrier w/Tie-Downs # TH834 will work great with your existing roof rack you have. These are J-style carriers that will mount to round, square, elliptical, aero and most factory crossbars.

For a hitch, I recommend the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7291. This hitch is confirmed to fit your 2008 Honda CR-V, and has a maximum towing capacity of 3.500-lbs, as well as a a 525-lbs maximum tongue weight capacity.

You should check your owner's manual for your vehicle for the maximum towing capacity, and utilize the lowest rating between the hitch and the vehicle.

Finally, for a bike rack, we have a wide variety that will fit the EcoHitch motioned above, however, if you wanted to stick with Thule, the Thule Apex XT 2 Bike Rack # TH9024XT is a great option.

This bike rack is capable of holding two bikes weighing up to 37.5-lbs each bike, for a total of 75-lbs.
