Weight Distribution & Pole Tongue Adapter Recommendation For 7k - 8k Boat & Trailer

Question:

Last October, I took possession of a 2009 C-Dory 25 Cruiser weighing 7-8K lbs. It is on a King saltwater trailer with electric over hydraulic brakes looks like it initially had surge. but slide welded now, the black plastic topped bunks, twin axle I have been looking for weight distribution and sway control, but since we dont have a Y or “A frame”, I would need a pole-tongue adapter… would something like these be OK on this trailer? EQ95-01-5950 or RP58393? For the distribution/sway setup: BXW1000 or RP66560 Im thinking compatibility would be enhanced by using the adapter and distro unit from the same manufacturer which combo do you recommend... Reese or Blue Ox, and do either of these look like they will work on this rig. Ive already loaded both into my cart. We are towing with a Sequoia to Florida from Louisiana for a C-Dory gathering next month, so there is a time element to this project. Any product advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Thanks for the photo, and you can use a pole-tongue adapter on your trailer, so long as A) it is not a swing-away tongue (which it certainly doesn't look like your trailer has but I do need to mention) and B) you are able to position the adapter approximately 29 inches back from the center of the coupler, and I can't quite tell from your photo if you can mount the adapter at that position.

So I do recommend checking just to verify, and if you can, the best option for your boat and trailer is the Blue Ox system. Reason being their SwayPro is the easiest system to set up, quieter than other systems due to its use of lift chains instead of friction, and provides the better sway control than comparable units because it resists sway at four different points (two at the head assembly and two at the end of the spring bars).

To get the correctly rated system, you need to know the loaded tongue weight of your boat and trailer. For a 7,000 lb to 8,000 lb total weight, there is a pretty wide range of what it could be, so I'll give you the options, either of which will work with the pole tongue adapter.

- Blue Ox Pole Tongue Weight Distributing Hitch Adapter # BXW4023

- Total Tongue Weight Between 550 lbs & 750 lbs: Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution # BXW0750

- Total Tongue Weight Between 750 lbs & 1,000 lbs: Blue Ox SwayPro Weight Distribution # BXW1000
