Can a Small Duck Boat Be Pulled Behind a 2022 Forest River Work and Play Toy Hauler
Question:
I have a 2022 Forest River Work and Play Toy Hauler. It is 27foot 5inch long and weighs 5.000# DRY. Can I attach a receiver hitch and tow a small duck boat behind it 800#including a 25 HP Mercury Outboard ? If so, what tow hitch would you recommend and would you recommend a frame or bumper receiver? Thanks

Expert Reply:
In most states double towing (towing one trailer behind another) is illegal so you will want to ensure that it is legal in the state you live in and any state you plan to travel in. You will also want to check with Forest River to ensure that the bumper/frame is rated for pulling a trailer and that you won't be voiding any warranties.
That being said, if that all checks out then you would definitely want to go with a frame mounted hitch and not a bumper mounted hitch. If the frame members on your Toy Hauler are between 18"-51" then you would want the Curt Adjustable Trailer Hitch Receiver # C13701. If the frame members are between 22" to 72" then you would want the Adjustable Width Trailer Hitch Receiver # 13703. You would also need wiring which can be done using the 4-Pole Hardwire Kit # 18252.
