Troubleshooting Trailer Hubs that Leak Grease After Seal Replacement

Question:

Im having issues with these seals leaking grease past the spindle onto the brakes. Seal size in 1.719 x 2.565 for 3500lb boat trailer. I always pump grease by hand and rotate the tire to spread evenly. It doesnt leak right away, maybe after a couple of road trips. Do you have any thicker ID seals that will seal on the spindle better? Ive tried other brands and same thing.

What's happening is that you are actually overfilling your hubs which grease and that is why the seal is leaking. This is very easy to do with EZ lube spindles and Bearing Buddies which is why we generally recommend just packing the hubs by hand and not adding additional grease into the zerk fitting.

I attached a video that covers packing bearings for you to check out as well.
