Does Roadmaster Direct Connect Base Plate Fit 2022 Ford Ranger

Question:

Will the Roadmaster direct connect base plate #RM-524459-5 work with my truck? When I enter my truck info the only base plate that comes up is the Blue Ox. The current generation Ranger spans 2019 thru 2022. The ranger will be redesigned for 2023 for the US market from what I have read.

I checked directly with Roadmaster for you, and can verify that yes, their direct-connect base plate kit does fit your 2022 Ford Ranger, and you did have the correct part number:

- Roadmaster Direct-Connect Base Plate Kit # RM-524459-5

The Direct-Connect # RM-524459-5 are a really smart choice for your '22 Ranger because they have removable tabs which means your Ranger is going to keep its clean look when you aren't flat towing, and also because Roadmaster is well-known for their quality and reliability. Along with the base plates, there are a number of other parts you'll need to flat tow your '22 Ranger, which I'll list out for you:

- Tow Bar: Roadmaster Nighthawk All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar # RM-676

- Wiring Kit: Roadmaster Universal Hy-Power Diode Wiring Kit # RM-152

-Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-88400

- Supplemental Braking System: Demco SBS Stay-IN-Play DUO Supplemental Braking System # DM86VR

The Nighthawk tow bar is a great option not only because it has long arms which make it easier to maneuver when towing, but is also the easiest tow bar to use due to its non-binding latch system, and LED lights so you can easily connect or disconnect even in the dark. It also has integrated safety cables and an electrical cord so you won't have to purchase them separately.

I really like the diode wiring kit because it is designed to prevent any type of electrical feedback, keeping your Ranger's electrical system safe. As for the braking system, the Stay-IN-Play DUO is by far the best option, and the reason for that is it gives you braking proportional to that of your motorhome. So when you hit the brakes on your motorhome, your Ranger is going to get the same amount of braking power. This results in much smoother braking than most systems which send out a pre-set amount of braking power, giving you a more comfortable and easier-to-control ride when flat towing.

I also recommend the Roadmaster Tow Defender Protective Screening # RM-4750 to keep rocks and other debris from hitting your Ranger while you are flat towing it.
