Troubleshooting Trailer Wiring Where There is an Intermittent Connection On Dash
Question:
Hook to truck, EVERYTHING works then it shows “check trailer connection” then “ trailer connected” off and on. Running lights work but no signal or brake lights? Changed battery on trailer, same issue? When connected to fifth wheel camper - no issues So now I’m lost?

You have a dirty pin on the 7-way of your truck or your trailer that is causing an intermittent connection. I'd recommend taking some sandpaper to all the pins of the trailer wiring and the problem will go away.
I also attached a link to a page on troubleshooting trailer wiring installs as well.
