The motor runs, the steps fall down, won’t go all the way up. It acts like the gears are stripped

Based on what you have described it sounds like you need to replace the gear box. I recommend opening up the gear box to see if the teeth are broken or stripped just to be sure. In order to find which gear box is correct you will need to look at your steps and find out which steps you specifically have. There should at least be a serial number on the steps to help you identify them and probably a part number on the gear box. From there, you can choose the correct part. For example, the # LC379160 for Kwikee steps fits step series 22, 23, 27, 28A, 30, 32, 33, 34, 35, 36, 38, and 40.
