Weight Distribution Shank For 2 Inch Hitch With More Than 2 Inches of Drop
Question:
I bought an equalizer hitch a year or so ago and it worked fine on my Silverado. I just bought a 2022 Suburban and even on the lowest setting the ball is too high. Do you sell a bar with an extra hole to lower it?

Expert Reply:
Absolutely; weight distribution shanks are interchangeable, and since most come with just a max of 2 - 3 inches of drop, a lot of people find themselves needing more than that. So for a shank that fits a 2 inch hitch, and has more than 2 or 3 inches of drop, you can choose from a number of options, depending on the drop you do need. Keep in mind the maximum drop will depend on if your weight distribution hitch is a round bar or trunnion bar system, but here are your options:
- Maximum Drop of 5-3/4" for Trunnion Bar or 6-1/8" for Round Bar: Curt Weight Distribution Shank # 17120
- Maximum Drop of 7" for Trunnion Bar or 7-1/2" for Round Bar: Curt Weight Distribution Shank # C17122
- Maximum Drop of 9" for Trunnion Bar or 10" for Round Bar: Curt Weight Distribution Shank # C17124
These will work for you to give you the additional drop needed for your weight distribution hitch so you can tow level.
