Can Trailer 4-Way be Wired to Activate Trailer Brakes
Question:
Im trying to figure out if their is a way to wire my tandem axel trailer brakes to a 4 wire 4 prong

Expert Reply:
A 4-way is not able to activate trailer brakes as it is for lighting only, so it doesn't have the ability to carry the signals to your brakes. So what you'll need for your trailer is a junction box and 7-way:
- Junction Box - 7 Terminal # 3375601100
- 7-Way RV Style Connector - Trailer End 6 ' Long # HM20086 or 8' Long # H20046
You'll wire your brakes (as well as your lights) directly to the junction box, which the 7-way is hooked up to. What you will need is brake wire, which is available per-foot with the Deka Jacketed 2 Wire, 10 Gauge, Brake Wire # 10-2-1.
