2022 Ford F-150 5.5 Bed Tonneau Cover Recommendation to Fit With Thule TracRac SR Ladder Rack

Question:

I currently am set on getting the tracrac sr for my 2022 F-150 with the short 5.5 bed but in the future I want to add a tonneau cover to my truck. Is this possible or do I need to go with a different ladder rack?

The Thule TracRac SR # TH43002XT-508 is actually one of the only ladder racks compatible with a variety of tonneau covers for your 2022 Ford F-150 with the 5-1/2' bed so you're already on the right track! Really the only requirement is that the cover mounts inside the bed side rails so that there is room for the base rails of the TracRac SR.

As far as tonneau covers go I have 2 different recommendations which depend on what you're looking to spend and what you're looking to get out of the cover.

My recommendation is to go with the RetraxPRO MX Hard Tonneau Cover # RTX85ZR because it has a matte black cover that can be locked anywhere along the rails. This gives you the perfect amount of customization so you can carry a wide variety of cargo with your truck. The only downside to this system is that the canister that holds the cover is 13-1/2" deep x 12" tall and sits inside the truck bed so you'll lose a little bit of truck bed real estate.

If you really want to avoid that canister on the inside of your truck bed then my second recommendation is the BAK Revolver X4s Hard Tonneau Cover # BAK56ZR. The beauty of this matte black cover is that it combines the sleek look of a soft cover with the durability and security of a hard cover. It doesn't have the ability to lock in place anywhere along the rails, but it does roll up on top of the rails so you won't have a canister hanging down.

Either way you go I know you'll be happy with the tonneau cover and you still get to us the TracRac SR - I just like the retractable feature because of the ability to lock it along the rails really.
