Can I Upgrade To Disc Brakes On My 2021 Grand Design Transcend Travel Trailer With 4400 Pound Axles?

I have a 2021 Grand Design Travel Trailer with drum brakes that Id like to upgrade to disc brakes. The trailer has 4400lb 6 lug axles. Ive looked at a few options but am confused as to what I should get. I have a local installer who can install them for me but just want to make sure I get the right product. Is something like this what I need? K2R526D

Due to the Dexter 4,400 pound axles using an uncommon bearing combination (inner bearing # L68149 (1.378" inner diameter) outer bearing # LM67048 (1.25" inner diameter)), you will be pretty limited on options. With that said, the only option we will have will be to replace the axle with something that uses a more common bearing combo.

As an example, the Dexter 5,200 Pound Trailer Axle Beam with E-Z Lube Spindles # 6340624 will use the inner bearing # 25580 (1.750" inner diameter) and outer bearing # 15123, # LM67048, or # 14125A (all have a 1.250" inner diameter but different outer diameters). This means you can easily install the Kodiak Disc Brake Kit # K2HR526D, though it does not include the bearings and you will also need the # DBRKHW6EZ bearing kit. However, this axle will measure 95" from hub face to hub face and 80" from the center of one spring seat to the other. You will need to measure your axle to see if this will fit or not.

If your axle does not match this, you will need to go to a local Dexter dealer to have an axle built to your specifications, unfortunately.
