Recommended 5TH Wheel Hitch With Underbed Rails For a 2016 GMC Sierra 2500 Short Bed

Question:

would like a 5th wheel hitch that can easily be removed to give a clean bed for hauling. this hitch will need to carry about 16000 lbs. would like to know asap am buying a 5th wheel in 2 wks. my pickup has a 6 1/2 bed on it.

This hitch is rated for 18,000lbs and will automatically slide away from your truck as you turn, ensuring that your truck cab and trailer do not come into contact when you are trying to maneuver your 5th wheel trailer. And since it does it automatically you will not have to get out of your truck to reposition into a maneuvering position. The hitch will work with most 12" to 14" wide pin boxes. If your 5th wheel has a cushioned or other specialty pin box you will likely need a special locking plate. If you can tell me what 5th wheel you are getting I can help you find the correct plate.

Since you do not have the in bed hitch prep/puck system the Underbed Rail and Installation Kit # DM8551010 will give you a clean bed for hauling other items when the hitch is removed.

The Hopkins Endurance 5th Wheel/Gooseneck 90-Degree Wiring Harness # 41157 will allow you to plug your 7-way from the 5th wheel into a connection inside the truck bed. This will ensure that the cord that would normally be dragging across your tailgate is not damaged from being stretched down to the bumper connection.
