I am working on the presumption that you have the trailer tow prep package installed in your 2012 Ford F350.
To determine the height needed: level out your trailer and measure from the bottom of the pin box to the ground, then with your truck on a level surface measure from the floor of the bed to the ground. Subtract the truck distance from the trailer distance and that will be your height requirement.
When picking a hitch, you can go one of two ways - you can use the puck mounted guide and use Reese # RP30921 which has a height range from 14 to 18 inches or you can use the Reese Elite Adapter # RP30156 and use a wide variety of hitches. The adapter will add ~2-7/8" to your height.
I have attached a FAQ article covering the Ford Trailer Tow Prep Package.
Two important factors when picking a hitch for your truck - first, if you have an 8 ft bed, you will be fine with any hitch, however, if you have the 6-3/4 ft bed, you will need a slider 5th wheel.
