Comparing Draw-Tite 41944 and Curt C15321 Trailer Hitches for 2006 Chevy Silverado 2500HD Short Bed

Question:

Comparing these 2 hitches I have a couple of questions. How do the receiver box heights compare? Which has better corrosion protection finish? Will be used on a 2006 Chevy Crew Cab Longbox pulling 8000 lbs. travel trailer and 6500 lbs Snowmobile trailer in the winter.

First, for both Draw-Tite trailer hitch # 41944, and Curt trailer hitch # C15302, the receivers will be located directly beneath the rear bumper. Take a look at the video I have linked showing a typical installation of the Draw-Tite hitch as an example of the location.

Both hitches feature a black powder coat over a base e-coat for corrosion resistance. They are on par with each other in this respect as well.

The main difference between these 2 hitches is the capacities. The Curt hitch is rated higher at 16,000 pounds gross trailer weight (17,000 with weight distribution) and 2,400 pounds tongue weight. The Draw-Tite hitch is rated for 13,000/16,000 and 1,950/1,600 pounds. I have linked instructions for both hitches.

For either hitch I also recommend etrailer ball mount kit # EBMK2416. It comes with a ball mount, 2 balls, a hitch pin with clip, and a storage bag.
